Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and versatile Blender Artist to join our game development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end creation, optimization, and integration of 3D assets, with strong expertise in modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, animation, and asset pipelines using Blender and related tools.

This role requires a balance of artistic creativity, technical proficiency, and a strong understanding of real-time rendering constraints. You will collaborate closely with developers, designers, and product managers to deliver visually compelling, optimized, and production-ready assets across multiple platforms.


Key Responsibilities

3D Asset Creation & Design

  • Create high-quality 3D models including characters, environments, props, and hard-surface assets using Blender.
  • Develop detailed textures, UV maps, and materials using PBR workflows.
  • Sculpt high-resolution assets and generate optimized low-poly versions for real-time use.
  • Ensure consistency in style, scale, and visual quality across all assets.

Rendering, Lighting & Shading

  • Set up lighting, cameras, and rendering pipelines for both real-time and pre-rendered outputs.
  • Create and optimize materials and shaders for realistic and stylized visuals.
  • Produce high-quality renders, turntables, and promotional visuals when required.

Animation & Rigging

  • Rig characters and objects for animation, including skeleton setup and skinning.
  • Create animations for characters, environments, and gameplay elements.
  • Work with physics simulations (rigid bodies, cloth, particles) for dynamic scenes.

Game Engine Integration

  • Export and integrate assets into game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure assets are optimized for performance and compatibility.
  • Set up LODs, collision meshes, and asset prefabs for in-engine use.

Optimization & Pipeline Management

  • Optimize assets for performance, including polygon count, texture size, and draw calls.
  • Maintain efficient file structures, naming conventions, and asset libraries.
  • Contribute to and improve 3D pipelines, workflows, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Strong expertise in Blender (modeling, sculpting, UV mapping, texturing, rendering).
  • Solid understanding of PBR workflows, materials, and lighting principles.
  • Experience in creating game-ready assets with optimization constraints.
  • Knowledge of rigging, animation, and simulation tools within Blender.
  • Familiarity with real-time engines like Unity or Unreal Engine.
  • Understanding of file formats (FBX, OBJ, GLTF) and asset export pipelines.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git or Perforce.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Fine Arts, Game Design, or related field.
  • Experience with additional tools such as Substance Painter, ZBrush, or Marvelous Designer.
  • Knowledge of shader creation and node-based material systems.
  • Experience working on shipped games, films, or interactive media projects.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong artistic and technical 3D skills.
